New Alabama governor Just Christians are his family

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley told a church crowd just moments into his new administration that those who have not accepted Jeses as their savior are not his brothers and sisters, shocking some critics who now question whether he can be fair to non-Christians. After his speech, Bentley said he did not mean to insult anyone."The governor clearly stated that he will be the governor of all Alabamians including Democrats, Republicans and Independents, young, old, black and white, rich and poor.

I think that Governor Robert Bentley's comment is very inappropriate. When you become a public figure you need to appeal to most everyone your representing. I bet this comment insulted a lot of people and now they cant really trust that their governor is going to take what they said into consideration because he made them sound beneath him.

This has to do with government because the governor is a new addition to our government and it also ties into the way some people feel about president Obama not being a Christian and their feelings towards that.

  1. I agree. Being a governor not only involves a leadership role, but you have to be someone for people to look up to. Being discriminatory is not an option. For Governor Bentley to say this in front of a crowd, is extremely inappropriate not only because he's a government figure, but just because it's plain wrong.

  2. I think that is so innappropriate. An apology does nothing to something that has already been said or done. Bringing religion into politics is not even close to a good idea.

  3. I agree. this was a really stupid comment to make. If he doesn't feel that all americans, saved or not, are his family and he can't offer equal treatment to all, then he should be removed from office. Religion isn't even supposed to be a part of government, so he should be taken out of office.

  4. Very true. The Governor had no right to say anything about non-Christians because he is not the one to judge them. GOD is and alot people dont realize that until they say or do something that insults someone. GOD has called everyone (his people) to love one another and treat each other like family. But its different for the Government because they follow Christianity as a religion. Well its not. The Governor should apologize and treat everyone the same or be taken out of office.
