Officials said that the couple chose the venue for its beauty, intimacy and historic royal connections, and the date because they wanted a spring wedding. The government said the day the day of their wedding would be a public holiday. William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II  and her mother were both married at the abbey.

  1. I don't see how this effects our government. Does england get so involved and televise weddings from the U.S. if an important figure is married? I know there was a lot of press about Charles and Diana's wedding and also Diana's death but I don't see how it involves us at all. However, the U.S. could probably learn from England. You never hear of them being at was with any other country or about them having sucha huge defecit. Maybe they have smarter leaders.
