If there was one thing American voters made abundantly clear on Nov. 2, it's how unhappy they are with politicians and the way things work in Washington. Surveys have shown that the majority of voters want their elected representatives to do a much better job of coming together to solve the country's problems. News polls state that most say they have little expectation that things will get better as a result of the recent midterms. Respondents were asked if they thought the election was more likely to move the country in the right direction or the wrong direction. The largest chunk of respondents, some 40 percent, said they didn't expect the election to make a difference at all. Only one-third of those polled, 34 percent, thought the results would move the country in the right direction, while another 21 percent said they thought things were headed the wrong way.

Americans are not comfident with the government as it stands today. They were very hopeful when the democrats came into office and so far they haven't lived up to the expectations everyone had for them. I think that the government needs to really put some effort into focusing fully on the immediate problems in our country and leaving the minor issues and things that aren't a big deal for later.

  1. People were promised so much in last presidential election and big change and now they are not happy. Everyone wants the economy to get better and so far it has not changed much. People have left like they have lost hope in our government and don’t believe much will change.

  2. I agree with kayla completely. Before we focus outward as a country, we must first focus inward and fix our own problems. It's like a car without oil. It'll run for a while, but it'll get to the point where if something is not done, irrepairably damage will be done. Needless to say, change is needed and the current administration isn't making them.

  3. I totally agree with Kayla. this country is involved and spending billions on two wars on forein countries. Look at our own country for a change. There's still a lot of folks losing their jobs and not able to pay their bills monthly. Also, what about jobs for kids our age, getting ready to graduate? Obama promised to create lots of new jobs, which he hasn't delievered on yet. I think all of the promises he made, he's kept very few and that's why people are so unhappy with the governement. They're really not doing enough to help us out. THey need to do another bailout, but this time make it to the American public.

  4. I agree. I feel like government these days is becoming a joke. Government does a lot for us but just in general, Americans are becoming less involved with voting and the government, period. I think that it sucks but something has to change in order for the people to grow that confidence back that once was so strong.
